Love

Today's lesson in relief society was about Love. Sister Jones told quite a few good stories about different people showing love but one that I thought was especially touching was about a kid that was born mentally handicapped. He didn't have any physical handicaps and, in fact, had been blessed with a very strong body so his parents got him involved with the special olympics. He was a very fast runner so they entered him in a track competition. The race started and he quickly got a good lead on the rest of the runners. Soon though he looked to both sides and noticed that he was all alone, he slowed down and looked back and saw that all his friends were quite a ways behind him so he stopped and waited and cheered for them until they caught up at which point he ran with them all cheering the rest of the way to the finish line, finishing last. Everyone watching knew that if he would have continued running he surely would have taken home the gold but that what he had just taught them was more important than any gold medal.

In this world of competition and always worrying about who is ahead I think this is a great lesson on what is important. If everyone showed love and cared more about their friends and neighbors then themselves think about the different world we would live in.
